PaneraHalfWitsThe Springfield Road Runners Club offers a variety of programs that will help you train for a specific race.  All levels of runners are welcome — age and ability do not matter. Our training groups are great ways to meet others of similar ability and really push yourself to improve.

Winter/Spring Training

The famous HalfWits training group fires up in January and trains through the winter months.  The goal race is the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon, held in April. There is no cost for this program.

Abe’s Army is a fun way to introduce newbies to the sport of running.  Targeted race is the Abe’s Amble 10K coinciding with the last day of the Illinois State Fair in August.

Training with the Speed Work group will help you become a faster runner. Workouts start in late Spring at Washington Park, eventually moving to the Sacred Heart-Griffin track.

Keep on running with the Frosttoes, a dedicated bunch who train for the Frost Bite Festival — a rugged 10-mile race that is held in December.
